The only Platinum selling artist to serve in Congress, John Hall returns with “Reclaiming My Time”, his first solo album since his tenure on Capitol Hill.

Famous for his indelible hits with Orleans and admired for his songwriting and session work with Janis Joplin, Jackson Browne, Karen Dalton, Little Feat, and Bonnie Raitt, among many others, “Reclaiming My Time” finds the musician/activist-turned-politician reclaiming the creative life he set aside during his time in elected office.

Lead single "Alone Too Long" is a compassionate counsel to a grieving friend who is returning to love after losing their partner of 35 years, which has taken on new meaning in the pandemic age.

about

Platinum selling artist and Congressman John Hall returns with “Reclaiming My Time”, his first solo album since his tenure on Capitol Hill.

Famous for his indelible hits with Orleans and admired for his songwriting and session work with Janis Joplin, Jackson Browne, Karen Dalton, Little Feat, and Bonnie Raitt, among many others, Reclaiming My Time finds the musician/activist-turned-politician reclaiming the creative life he set aside during his time in elected office.

Lead single "Alone Too Long" is a touching counsel to a grieving friend, returning to love after losing their partner of 35 years. Written in 2019 the song has taken on new layers of meaning amidst the isolation of the pandemic age.

"There are a lot of learning experiences in life and some of them involve the blues" Hall says of followup single, "Lessons", a lively tribute to bumps in the road. "I have a friend who says 'experience is something you get right after you needed it' and Lessons goes 'I needed to learn patience, I wound up in a traffic jam'".

Other highlights include "Save The Monarch" a duet with Dar Williams, and the album's closing track, "Welcome Home", written for a Vietnam Veteran friend.

"Reclaiming My Time” is a phrase used on the floor of Congress to resume what one was saying before being interrupted. These are songs written since my return to “normal life,” along with a few remixed and remastered tunes from previously recorded but not widely distributed projects. Studios in the Hudson Valley of NY and in Nashville, TN captured performances by extraordinary musicians I am lucky to call friends. Thanks to all of them and all my illustrious co-writers. John Hall, Nashville, TN - March 2021
